Malawi’s president sells presidential jet for $15 million to aid her country

Cash-strapped Malawi has found a buyer for the luxury jet that had once belonged to late leader Bingu wa Mutharika.

A government official said on Wednesday that the presidential jet has been sold for $15 million, raising much need funds for the impoverished African nation.

Mutharika bought the jet in 2009 for $22 million, a purchase that was widely criticized as a waste by many, including Malawi’s main bilateral donor Britain.

The country reduced its aid to the African nation by 3 million pounds because of it.

Delta Government To Banish Recalcitrant Herdsmen

The Delta State Government has directed that any herdsman who allowed his cattle to destroy farm crops or kill or cause bodily harm to farmers in the state would be arrested and expelled. The Hausa-Fulani Leaders in such communities will be made to fish out the culprits.

The Secretary to the State Government, Ovuozorie Macaulay, who briefed journalists at the end of the State Security Council meeting held in Oghara, Ethiope West local government council and presided over by the state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, said that the decision was reached because of the increasing act of criminal activities of the herdsmen.

Man beheaded in broad day light in Woolwich, South London

A man, believed to be a serving soldier, was attacked and beheaded with a machete in broad day light this afternoon in Woolwich, South London by two men in what is suspected to be a terror attack.

The soldier was attacked with knives and meat cleavers following a car crash. Two black men in a blue Vauxhall car rammed into the soldier on John Wilson Street, then jumped out of their car and started attacking him with meat cleavers. An eye witness said the attackers were "chopping this guy to pieces, literally hacking at something like it was a piece of meat".

Some artistes in the Nigerian music industry on Tuesday turned out en masse to clean up the streets of Lagos, feed the hungry and visit the homeless.

The musicians who participated in the exercise included TuFace Idibia, who was accompanied by his manager, Mr Efe Omorogbe.


Others were Ras Kimono, Dizzy Falola and Chibuzor Orji, popularly called “Faze’’, amongst others.

The exercise was organised by the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) as part of efforts to create awareness about the industry and bring music to the doorstep of every Nigerian.

Star FM DJ Munyaradzi Mlimo, popularly known as DJ Munya has been arrested on allegations of kidnapping and killing a man he suspected of engaging in an extra-marital affair with his wife.

The DJ reportedly forced the man to drink poison. The Zimbabwean radio personality was arrested in Harare following the disappearance of the man, who was identified as Magorimbo.
